The Utilities & Test Stands Section at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for two "Technician for Water Cooling Systems" positions.
Description of section
The Utilities & Test Stands Section within the Specialized Technical Services Group works alongside other groups in the Accelerator Division to define, design, install, commission and finally operate and maintain the accelerator cooling water systems, accelerator conventional electrical systems, and test stands at ESS. The group is also responsible for design of water-cooling systems for the Neutron Instruments Division.
• Assist and supervise installation activities of the accelerator and neutron instruments water-cooling systems.
• Assist in procurement of tools and auxiliary equipment required for maintenance and operation
• Participate in commissioning and maintenance of cooling systems
• Perform minor changes and modifications of cooling systems
• Assist in writing and improving guidelines and procedures for safe operations
You will support the cooling system engineers and design engineers, communicate with colleagues, consultants, and suppliers to ensure safe and timely commissioning and stable operation of the relevant equipment and processes of the ESS machine.
Training will be provided as required.
Practical experience, either installation or maintenance, from industrial process/thermal/power plants, including typical components, such as pipes and pipe supports, pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
Experiences of the following areas are an advantage but not a requirement:
• Knowledge of typical process system related documentation, such as P&ID, and isometric drawings
• Experience with demineralization systems
• Experience in pipe welding, and welding documentation
Excellent oral and written Swedish and English skills are a prerequisite.
To be successful and perform well in this position you need to be good at working together with others, have a positive attitude, and a problem solving mindset. When planning and organizing your work, you can easily identify what is needed of you, and you perform your work in a systematic and methodical way.
It is expected that during commissioning, early operations and later in maintenance periods occasional shift work (including nights and weekends) is required. In the normal operation phase scheduled on-call service but no permanent physical presence at site is foreseen during off-business hours.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
